5 West North Street (just off King Street)

An aberdeen institution, this venue is 3 mins walk from Union Street and has a bit of everything. A fairly small venue compared to most.

Central on Union Street, again you can find all kinds of entertainment here (don't let the "Music" in the title mislead you), a medium sized venue. Events sell out VERY quickly...

Situated out of town off the A90. Basically head out Bridge of Don way, it's well sign-posted, and has ample parking.

Despite being used for Job Conferences a lot, this venue is HUGE and periodically holds events such as Wrestling, Dance Music Events, Snooker Shows etc. So it's worth checking just in case there's something on. Despite being enormous most events sell out quite quickly here too

On Hilton Place, along from the Art Gallery, at the top of Union Terrace Gardens.

Open again after a period of refurbishment and improvement, this large theatre is home to all the big shows that come to Aberdeen!

Tucked away on Skene Terrace just along from His Majesty's Theatre this venue doesn't constantly put on live shows like the Lemon Tree, however it has seen greats like Aqualung give amazing performances and is a cozy little venue with a lot to offer, including a bar. Boost! You can also rent it for private parties and gigs, which is always a bonus. Suffers from a lack of website and you have to keep your ear close to the ground (or at least close to the Evening Express or P&J) to get the best out of the Forum.

As well as these, there are a wealth of establishments which provide live music, not having their own websites, a BRILLIANT resource is HTTP://WWW.ABERDEEN-MUSIC.COM, watch out in particular for Drummonds on Belmont Street and The Globe on 13 North Silver Street off Golden Square! Also, Clubs with live music are included on the Clubs page, fancy that. What would you do without us!

Schoolhill, along from the Theatre and across from the Triple Kirks pub.

As well as a lot of permanent art and a few Aberdeen history museum displays, this is also the venue for lots of temporary Art displays from renowned artists. Has a cafe and shop on site. While it may not be as large as some other galleries (well, the Louvré springs to mind) it still has a wealth of art on offer, and is definately worth visiting.

Beside Tiger Tiger on Ship Row, just off the bottom of Union Street.

Historically Aberdeen is a fishing/oily place, so this is dedicated to giving you the experience of these things. Worth a visit if only to tell your Mum that you've got some culture in you now.

On Castlegate, at the bottom of Union Street and King Street.

Well, this is the building which is a museum to the history of crime and punishment in the city. It's a 17th Century gaol. Interesting. Enough said.

At the bottom of Constitution Street, down at the Beach. It's on a road that goes from the Patio Hotel to the Beach Leisure Centre. Very well hidden, half the magic is spent finding it.

This is basically a science centre. It's full of interesting science that you get to play with (thankfully most of it is pretty hard to break). Geared more towards children, it's still interesting to see.

Guestrow, between Broad Street and Flourmill Lane, across from Marischall College.

This is a period house of the 16th century, also has a lot of religious art and information about the city in general.

 

No links here I'm afraid, pretty self explanatory I would have thought. Miami Beach takes the advantage due to having parking, a bar, restaurant, pool tables, arcades and student rates on Sunday/Monday etc. Megabowl is at the bottom of George Street (near John Lewis out the back of the Bon Accord Shopping Centre) and Miami Beach is, again fairly obviously, at the Beach Links Leisure complex.

Now, fairly obviously you're not going to be paintballing down Union Street, so expect to head out of town a bit. SKIRMISH is the best site nearby, but going here will once again probably benefit from you being sober and planning ahead a wee bit.

There are quite a few Pool-halls in Aberdeen, the recommended one being Rileys. With two buildings, one on Bridge Street (across from Liquid) and one at the top of Chapel Street (just off the top of Union Street), these halls provide both Pool and Snooker tables, with a bar and all-day menu. You have to be a member (or pay a small fee) but again, here the wonder of Student Discount pulls through.
